A trip to Rye wouldn’t be complete without heading along the coast to Camber Sands for a walk along the beach. Catch the number 711 from the town centre then stroll to your hearts content – with the sun on your face and sand between your toes in the summer or the crashing of waves and wind in your hair come autumn, there’s something special about British beaches whatever the time of year. The perfect tonic for restoring the soul.
If you haven’t packed a slab of flapjack to combat hunger pangs, head back to Rye for an indulgent afternoon tea at The Cobbles tearoom then potter around the winding streets of antique havens. I stayed at the Four Seasons B&B during my visit and the owners couldn’t have been more welcoming and helpful. Perfect weekend away.
