Llangollen is one of my favourite places in Wales. Situated in Denbighshire, by the Berwyn Mountains, it boasts awe-inspiring highs and jaw-dropping lows. There’s also the wonder of the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct (a World Heritage Site) and the tranquillity of the Horseshoe Falls. It’s therefore no surprise that there are also plenty of diverse walking routes to be explored in the area. I’ve already described the Horseshoe Falls, a site I visited on a previous trip. So this time, I thought I’d head upwards and climb to Castel Dinas Bran, ruins of a 12th century castle, with views overlooking the town and valley. It’s a steep, sharp hike to the summit but, I hope you’ll agree, well worth the effort.
