I love the idea of sharing what you read with others – swapping books with well-thumbed pages then gathering together to discuss your thoughts after. So imagine my joy at discovering a book exchange in the nearby village of Marden.

Step inside what looks like a humble red telephone box, and browse the shelves, laden heavy with the latest thrillers, timeless classics and guides to the county’s history.

Sadly I didn’t have a book on me to leave behind but I’ll be heading back armed – a great way to expand the mind and read something you might not normally pick up in a shop/library. Why not start one where you live and get the community buzzing!
