Crafting for a cause

Did you know the average age for a homeless woman to live to is only 43?

This time, my latest craft project (pictured here) isn’t just for my own personal enjoyment, or for a gift, but is, in fact, part of an appeal from the charity St Mungo’s Broadway to raise £5,000 for their work in supporting the homeless. 100 canvases, designed by clients of St Mungo’s as well as named artists, and members of the public (like me), are being auctioned today, on eBay, with proceeds going towards the establishment of a creative hub at its Recovery College in Southwark. Artists were invited to interpret the theme ‘Putting down roots’ with sketches, paintings, sculptures or collages (which, with my limited drawing talent is what I went for). Why not check out all the listings and place a bid – you may even win a collect-able. But, whatever you do go home with, the most important thing is you’ll have done your bit to support the 2,500 homeless people the charity supports every night.
